Avadon the black fortress character guide
Why does sword specline award so much Dexterity when you really don't need it?Īxe is the only worthy weapon for a fighter, Maces for meatshields. The only reason why 1 Fighter and 3 Rogues is a better line up than 4 rogues is because there aren't two Lurker sets available in the game. *If you make this character Minotaur and focus on Throwing only, he will do more damage than anything else in this game. *Backline Str Rogue - Throwing dagger 50 > Mage I wonder what you think is so great with the LoG system?ĭo you like the part that Fighter is completely redundant, or that mage is completely redundant best?įrontline Dex Rogue - Dagger/Dodge > Fighterīackline Str Rogue - Assassin/dagger > Mage The character system really isn't very good, and I feel irritated all over again when I compare it to the much smarter system in the game I'm playing right now, Legend of Grimrock. I never played any other of Spiderweb's games. I can't remember now any other stuff that irritated me. Regenerating Healthbar was a stupid idea in Shooters but is even dumber in RPG games. If it would be the other way around (more realistic way) then in each combat You would struggle not to get hurt and you would use your skills more. Because of that, getting hurt is favorable to using your skills to much o_0. And once You chose one you need to stick to it for the rest of the game.Īfter each combat your party regenerates Health but not stamina (basically mana). But they are arranged in such a way that there are only two logical ways of spending Your skill points. Shame on You mister Vogel!Įach class has a skill tree with like dozen or more skills. I was expecting that in a game without voiceover and with linear story i will see loads of choices and consequences. Will You kill it or will you investigate? No difference. You tracked down some dangerous monster but it seams that this creature is not what it's supposed to be. Will You stop him or will you attack the enemy together? Does not matter. Your party hides from a dangerous enemy, one of your soldiers wants to reveal himself and attack. From time to time You have to chose between 2 or 3 options but it does not matter. Besides the very end where you get to make one decision there is no CnC here. It's the opposite! You gain new skills and weapons but You will never get ahead of your enemy!ĥ. But few missions later when You are revisiting the same land (This story keeps You traveling between 3 different parts of the continent) similar enemies have way better stats then they had at Your first visit! By the end enemy soldiers have more HP and Defences than Ogres had at the beginning! In effect You never feel that Your party is getting more powerful. Imagine that at the beginning of a game you fight some thugs and they have slightly worse stats than Your team. So in effect it is no different than level scaling. And with each mission all Your enemies get slightly better stats. This is a linear game in which you go from mission to mission in predetermined order. Increasing difficulty level just improves enemy stats, and that just makes these boring fights longer When i say "Interesting fight" im talking about how my enemies are placed on the battlefield and what skills they use against me. And almost all of them are boring h'n's without need for any tactic.Īnd do not tell me that i should play on higher difficulty level. Instead of making 5 interesting fights per locations, he makes 50. It reminds me these dialogues in Bioware games where some characters talk for few minutes straight but what they really had to say can be summed up in one sentence.ģ. You could easily trim 50% from all the text in this game (especially from descriptions of your surroundings) and still say what needed to be said without removing any important information. This guy apparently thinks that quality equals quantity. Too much writing! Yes i get it, this is a game with text instead of voice acting and with written descriptions instead of fancy graphics. But mister Vogel's writing is just plain boring.Ģ. Not everyone needs to be as talented as Sapkowski, Martin or Vince. Im highly disappointed by this game, in the end i needed to force myself to finish it just so i could say that i did.ġ. Just finished playing it on normal difficulty.
